T C Mann & Sons, makers of high quality handmade shoes in Cogenhoe from 1877 and set up here when former premises burned down – see plaque 8. The factory closed in 1952 after the business was sold to Stricklands who have themselves since closed. York Bros Coaches, established in Cogenhoe in 1924 and then purchased these premises and later
demolished them in 1971 to form what is now on site. After much growth the family sold the business but the new owners went bust. The garage is now operated by Chalfont Coaches.
